Well... Part II of the Histories is out, and the inevitable happened.
I had to do an American accent.
I think its moderately OK, not too jarring, but please don't be offended all you listeners in the US (which is most of you!!!)
I was never one for doing accents, so am kind of learning this on the fly. I did try to through in a bit of Bostonian twang as well. Probably overstretched myself.
This whole podcasting process has made me actually listen to the way I speak, and the way others speak. It has made me slow down, and concentrate on being understood rather than getting my point across as loudly or as quickly as I can. I thoroughly recommend it as an exercise in self-awareness. I used to be one of those people who hated the sound of their voice on recordings. It turns out that this is because I was not used to hearing my voice on recordings. This distaste dissipates with every podcast I make.
I suppose its the same about hating the way you look in pictures.
One neurosis at a time though!
Please let me know what you think of the Histories, and please don't forget to rate and review. I will be eternally grateful.
