Hi there. I am new to this site, and I would like to ask for some advice. I am a parish priest at a church in the north of England. Just before Christmas of last year, I was visited by an elderly woman. She came into the church freely, as I was praying. The interaction was brief, but I became convinced that another presence was within her… a demonic influence of some kind.
It ended rather suddenly with her running up and kissing me. Not a restrained kiss either.
Ever since then, something has remained in the church. I have heard loud footsteps in the church at night and breathing on the back of my neck when I am kneeling. I even recorded something which I will attach.
My superiors have been reticent to deal with this as a supernatural problem. I have done what I can to cleanse and purify the space, but my knowledge is limited. I want to ask if anyone has had dealings with ridding a place of an infestation.
Many thanks.

Hello. I just read your post, and something in it rang a bell. I have no practical experience in cleansing a space of infestation, but I am a student of comparative religion. I would like to help if I can.

Hi!
Thanks so much for writing back to me. I have had a lot of replies accusing me of making it all up. They don't seem to think a priest should be suffering from this kind of attack. That, or they think I should know what to do about it. It is not the kind of thing I was prepared for when in training!
Any help gratefully received.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Only one question actually.
Are you sexually active?
(Excuse my bluntness.)

Wow! OK – I am still going to assume you are genuine, and that question has some relevance to something. At this point I am desperate.
No. Not sexually active.

Forward then.
Begin the rite to free the beast.
The held to steal a kiss from one chaste priest.
And then to offer sacrifice
The life-blood of a lamb to drink
For at the end a newborn's tears
Will free the held, and open wide the doors to paradise.

What is that?

It's a verse from a book called Quod Diaboli Ianua. It means The Devil's Door. It was written in 1733 in the Vatican by a priest who was known as Nuncio.
It includes chapters on possession and exorcism, as well as the integration conundrum. This passage, if I remember correctly, alludes to the legend that a possessing demon can escape the fleshly bonds that hold it, and escape into our reality.
It seems as though one of the lines could be about your incident.

Yes, it does!
Do you have a copy of this book? There might be something in it to help?

Sorry, no.
There are only two copies that I know of. One is locked away in the Vatican archives. The other is in the Bodleian, Weston. I was lucky enough to be able to study it there when I was at Oxford. I only have my notes, I'm afraid.
I possibly know of someone who might be able to help in a more practical way. Give me a few days and I will try to get hold of him.
